Hello, Kansas City, and welcome back to the Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast, the number one Kansas City Car Detailing podcast. We are so glad that you joined us tonight to talk about Kansas City Car Detailing. I don’t know about you, but Thomas and I are just loving the summer weather.
He’s definitely somebody meant to live near warm weather, whether it be tropical or just someplace where it’s nice and sunny. Would you agree? Man, I love Puerto Rico. I love Puerto Rico.
I love the car scene down there. I loved, I love the weather. I love the food.
I enjoyed the culture. Yeah, I, I, yeah. I don’t know if any of you are also car guys, but whenever we watch Fast and Furious, watching that movie with Thomas is like watching a director’s cut, constantly pausing, telling you the fun facts about this car, that car, the speed, that car’s illegal here, things like that.
Same thing when we’re in Puerto Rico, you’d point all these kinds of cars. I’m like, I honestly would never have thought that that was anything unique, but he’d be like, that’s a special for this reason, special for that reason. Yeah, you know, we actually saw a, uh, we saw a Subaru Impreza WRX STI 22B, which if you’re a car person, you know, that’s a really special car to see.
And, um, there was just one cruising down the road as soon as we got on the highway and she was trying to talk about something that was probably more important. But the whole time I was like, do you know what that is? It’s something special. It’s something special.
All right. So in this show, we’re going to be talking about Thomas’s absolute favorite topic in this entire world, outside of our family. Thomas, what do you think that is? Cars.
Cars. What specific car? Supercars. What kind of? A Corvette.
A Corvette. All right. So we’re breaking down some Corvette, um, things that if you own one, if you’re looking at owning one, some best practices for how to keep your Corvette in tip top shape.
Now, number one question, how to keep a black Corvette swirl free. Oh, well, the best way to do this is to do a, first of all, remove the scratches and the swirls. So perform a Kansas city car detailing paint correction, and then apply ceramic coating.
And that’s actually something that we offer. So if they want to get something like that done, how do they do that? You can get ahold of us at Bespoke Refinement at 620-282-0402. You can also email us at info at bespoke refinement.com. Um, here’s the next question.
Is a Corvette worth the investment? Depends. Um, they typically drop and most of them drop in value. A few of them go back up, but most of them drop.
Um, but as far as the investment of enjoying it and, you know, the people that you get to meet with having a Corvette and just, you know, the, the being able to have a lot of power at the, at the touch of your foot, to me, it’s definitely worth the investment. Now, the current job that you’re working on came because we’re, I was actually going to pick you up somewhere and this guy drove by the plaza in a C1 Corvette. Is that right? Yep.
Good job. Thank you. And you just started talking to the guy and the guy was like, Hey, let me show you some stuff.
And he showed you his collection. But the Corvette community is a very open and fun community for sure. It is.
I bet one of the questions in there is how to keep your new balances clean. There you go. Keep your jean shorts pressed.
All right. Uh, next question. Um, how do you protect your Corvettes interior from UV and where, you know, the best way to protect an interior is to keep the leather conditioned, all the plastics conditioned.
Um, this is a little bit over the top, but if there’s painted areas in the car, I’d actually ceramic coat them. Oh, that’s interesting. Um, my C6 Z06 had a lot of carbon fiber on the interior and I ceramic coated off it to keep it like extra protected.
Is it also helpful? Like, let’s say like somebody has shoes and they, you know, put their feet up or something like that. But like if it kicked, no fiber to keep it protected. Yep.
Yep. Keeping your, uh, kicking your feet off before you get in to keep the salt and rocks and anything off of the carpet. Um, and there are actually interior services that you can, we can perform to your vehicle to make the carpet protected as well.
Oh, interesting. So it’s like an enzyme protectant. Is there things like the Ferrari that we’re talking about earlier, like the buttons get really sticky and the interior gets really sticky.
Do Corvettes do that as well? No, Corvettes do not do that. Um, that is a Ferrari, uh, some Lamborghini and then BMW, like the E36 three series cars, like the M3 that your dad had, they, they were known for having the sticky button problem too. Really? That’s interesting.
What is your favorite generation or Corvette? Oh man. Um, I have three answers for that. So the C5 holds a very special place in my heart because that was the first Corvette that I ever had.
And so sitting in the interior, sitting inside of the car and like, you know, I feel like I’m sitting in a spaceship every time I sit in one, like takes me back to being a teenager and getting my first Corvette and you know, all the dumb stuff I did in it. So the C5 holds a very like nostalgic place in my heart. Um, I would say the C6 is probably like my all time favorite Corvette.
Um, I think it was like the last true supercar manual transmission, like very analog feel. Um, and then, but my, my dream Corvette would be a C7 ZR1 or like the all time dream car. Um, so.
What’s the difference when you’re looking at a Corvette, you’ll know instantly if it’s a C7, C6, if it’s a Z06, all those things, how do you know, based on looking at one, what the different looks of the Corvette are? Well, the, the C6 generation and the C5 generation have the rounded headlights or taillights. Um, the C5 is, has the pop-up headlights. So, um, C5 is actually the last car to ever have pop-up headlights.
So, um, those are the things I look for. And then as far as the, the Z06 thing on a C5, you look to see if it has a fixed roof, so if it has like the removable top, then it’s a base model, but if it has the fixed roof, it’s a Z06 with the C6 you Z06 trying to decide like base model or, um, Z06, you look at the, like how wide the car is. So it has, if it seems wide, like a, like a supercar, like when you see it coming, if it looks like a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, you know that it’s a Z06, but if it’s more narrow, you know, it’s a base model and the C7s are very rigid.
There’s a lot of sharp lines. And then obviously they have the, the triangular or the rectangular headlight or taillights. So, that’s interesting.
Um, all right. One last question. Um, if somebody is going to buy a Corvette, what is something they need to be aware of with the brand, with different styles, just anything like that, like, Hey, you know, I’d be wary of this, wary of that.
What are some things somebody needs to be aware of when buying a Corvette? Um, there’s, that’s actually why it’s one of my favorite cars is, you know, every, every car has its own little corks, you know, like your Jeep has the whole battery thing and the C6 Z06s are known for having valve guide issues. And the C7 Z06s are known for heat soaking. So like every car has its known cork.
But the thing that I love about Corvettes is you can drive one to 300,000 miles and, and not have a whole lot of problems. Um, versus, you know, Ferraris, you know, a Ferrari is considered high miles if it has 15,000 miles. Corvettes considered high miles if it has 200.
So, um, the, the really interesting and cool thing about Corvettes. Is General Motors basically takes a truck and a truck engine and a truck transmission, and they figure out how to stuff it into this really cool bodied car. That’s really what a Corvette is.
So, um, a lot of the replacement parts, if you take it to a dealership, they hit you with a Corvette tax. But if you, yeah, but if you, cause they just mark everything up cause it’s a Corvette. But if you go to like an independent shop, a lot of times you can fix a Corvette problem with like a Chevy Silverado part.
So.
