We do it all. If you want to talk cars with me all day, as long as you’re paying me to be there, I’ll be there. Guys, thank you so much for tuning into this episode of the Bespoke Refinement Podcast.
Right now, we’re talking about the Cavallino Corsa Rally that we just returned from. We’re going to share some of the unique things that happened, some of the fun moments, and even a few of the not-so-fun challenges. What were we doing there? Why were we there? Why did we sponsor it? Honestly, who knows what we’re doing on this earth sometimes. But what I do know is this—we’re here to make cars clean, we’re here to make your car look its best, and we’re here to have fun. Isn’t that right, Averee?
“Oh, we always have fun. I mean, you have fun every day, but you also get to do what you love. What else in life is there to really enjoy?” Exactly—we’re just here to have fun.
So, what were we doing on this rally? We were detailing all of the participants’ vehicles four nights in a row. Think about what these cars go through—brake dust from hard braking and cornering, heavy road grime from high-speed driving, and bugs absolutely plastered on the front ends. These cars weren’t just dirty—they were beat up from hundreds of rally miles. Every single one of them was treated to a full Kansas City car detailing package, and by the end of each night, they looked showroom ready again.
It was a lot. We had a blast, but it was hard work. Thirty-two cars, four nights in a row. And we had to do it while the participants were sleeping, after they finished pushing their cars hard all day. We needed to be up and rested enough to do it again the next night. Four straight nights. It was absolutely crazy—but Bespoke Refinement delivered. We had fun, we learned, and we grew—not just as a company, but as a couple too.
One of the biggest challenges came on the first night. We got started around two in the afternoon. By three in the morning, we were about 85% done. At this point, Averee’s feet were killing her, and she was probably thinking she married a psychopath for doing this every day. Then, the worst thing that can happen to a freshly detailed car happened—the sprinklers came on.
The hotel sprinklers started soaking the lineup of Ferraris, and the worst hit was the founder and owner of the rally. His car was positioned at the very end, and it was getting blasted from three different angles—driver’s side, passenger’s side, and windshield. Sprinkler water leaves mineral spots that can etch into paint, so we had a decision to make: go to bed and hope for the best, or stay up and dry every car again. We chose to dry them all.
So we went back through, wiped every car down again, and tried our best to preserve the details. With 34 cars and a finite number of towels, it was tough. We weren’t prepared to re-dry every single car, but we got it done. By the time we finished, it was 4 a.m. We collapsed into bed and didn’t wake up until noon.
The next morning, something made it all worth it. Averee woke up to the sound of Ferraris firing up in unison. With the balcony door open, it literally sounded like the hotel was about to take off into the sky. Engines roaring—boom, boom, boom—it was the coolest alarm clock you could imagine. Every single one of those freshly detailed cars from Bespoke Refinement had just received our Kansas City car detailing services and were polished and ready to roll out.
From Branson, they drove all day to Queen Wilhelmina, Arkansas. For them, it was an all-day trek weaving through the Pig Trail and back roads. For us, it was only about a three-hour drive because we took the direct route. We got there, checked into the hotel, and got ready to start all over again.
I’ve got to give a shout-out to Adam Pitale. He sponsored the event and supplied us with all of the detailing products we used. I’d been in contact with him leading up to the rally, and he really came through. What’s even cooler is that Adam was someone I looked up to in the detailing world when I first started. To now call him a friend is something special.
When we reached Queen Wilhelmina, the view was breathtaking. Mountains in every direction, mist rolling in at sunset—it was beautiful. Averee, of course, joked about the “flat plains” we were overlooking, even though we were standing on one of the highest peaks in Arkansas, surrounded by mountains. She’s convinced of her flat-earth theory, but I’ll let that one slide. Still, the view was something we’ll never forget. The food was great, the hotel was nice, and it quickly became one of our favorite stops on the rally.
Fun fact: the town of Mena, Arkansas, which was about 20 minutes away, was actually the setting for the movie American Gangster. We had dinner there one night, and even though the restaurant wasn’t great, it was cool knowing we were right in the middle of some American film history.
At the end of the day, the rally was unforgettable. We worked hard, made memories, and grew stronger as a business and as a couple. And most importantly, every car received the care it deserved.
