Now today we’re going to be talking about one of Thomas’s favorite cars and he’s going to tell you all about it. So, we came down to the lake, spent some time on our boat about four hours away from Kansas City and we decided, you know what, we’re going to bring our Z06. For those of you that are new to listening to this video or our podcast, we have a 06 C6 Z06 Corvette.
It’s a very max, it is a max effort built heads cam car. Makes about 630 to the wheels, you know, crank it’s almost 800 horsepower. Manual transmission, you know, all the things.
One of the best cars ever built in my opinion. And this is really my first time, I’ve had this car, I bought this car in 2019 and I hadn’t really driven it in a lot of areas that had a ton of hills. And I’ve always wondered why on earth someone would spend $300,000 on a GT3 RS 911, which by the way, this is one of my dream cars still.
Why someone would buy one of those? Would you just buy one of these? Now I get it. A manual transmission car, and mind you it’s not a regular manual, this has a twin disc clutch and a built Tremec TR66, or TR, excuse me, T56. It’s a Tremec T56 transmission made into a McLeod twin disc clutch.
So it’s already very temperamental, it’s got a big cam, so it’s got all the cam surge. And so it’s already a little bit of an art to get the car to move from a stop, but we were on these huge steep inclines and I mean, like, Avery, you can speak to it. The car starts rolling, you gotta give it throttle, you gotta, you gotta slip the clutch pretty hard, and in doing so it’s just, you just, you can feel the driveline just banging against the transmission because this car wasn’t built to be on a hill.
And so now I understand whenever I see a GT3 RS and I’m like, okay well my Z06 is way better than that, and essentially, you know, a GT3 RS is a factory track car built off the 911, the Z06 is a factory track car built off the Corvette. Now I get it. I still love this car.
I still absolutely love this car, but I feel like I need a Sozo after feeling the driveline smack against the transmission so much and trying to get it to go for a roll, you know, because people get right up on your tail at an incline and, you know, you gotta push the clutch in so you gotta slip the clutch hard to get it to move forward because you don’t want to back into the car behind you. It’s just, it’s a, it’s a lot. So I love this car.
I know that if we bring it back down again it’ll be more of like, we drive it here and we plan out where we go. It’s just not a good car for, it’s a great car for driving in the hills. It’s not a great car for commuting around in the hills.
You know what I mean. Oh yeah, it’s away from the curves. Like right now, like just driving it around, it’s great, but if you want to go sightseeing, if you want to go hit little shops and stores and, you know, pulling it out of parking lots on hills, it’s just, it’s not, it’s not quite the right car, but that’s also why people that own, you know, like the Lamborghini Aventador, really anything with a, with a twin clutch transmission, dual clutch transmission, they also don’t like driving them on inclines because it burns them up.
I mean, everyone I know who has a e-gear transmission, Lamborghini, has told me the same thing. They hate, they love driving them in the hills, but they hate commuting in the hills. And now I get it.
Now I get it. It is just so hard on these clutches. So anyways.
Yeah, so what questions do you have for me? Now that we’re done with our trip and we’re heading back to Kansas City, what Kansas City car detailing service are you going to have to perform on your vehicle, on your Corvette when we get back? It’s going to need like a, just a maintenance clean. It’s going to take me, it’s going to take me about an hour. I mean, I could probably knock it out when we get home, you know, just rinse it off, you know.
With it being my own car, I’m a little different. Like, I don’t like getting my car perfect after every use. I just like getting the brake dust off the wheels, the bugs off the front of it, and the dust off the dash, and a quick vacuum.
You know, I don’t need to spend four hours deep cleaning it every time because I like driving them. But that’s also the fun of it for me is like, that’s why I love driving my cars because I know at the end of it I get to detail my car. Not I have to, I get to.
That’s part of the fun in it for me. Yeah. As weird as that is, the same part of me that’s like, no, I like going to the gym in the morning because I like getting up and going.
You know, some people may look at that and think it’s a chore, but for me, I enjoy it. I also enjoy looking forward to getting to clean my car when I’m done using it because this is a car that I would be really excited about getting to work on if I got a call to do it. You know what I mean? Yeah.
So if somebody goes on a trip and they’re like, hey, I don’t need like a full detail, what Kansas City Car Detailing services or Kansas City Car Detailing packages could you offer to somebody looking for your Kansas City Car Detailing? Definitely our maintenance wash packages. I mean, this is a it’s a thorough wash. You know, we’re going to clean the wheels, clean the tires, hand wash it, get the bugs off of it.
It’s got a ceramic coating on it. We address the coating as need be. Is it possible for you to add a Kansas City Car Detailing ceramic coating to it? Yeah, I mean, we do, you know, if you want to do like a ceramic sealant, we can, but to like do a ceramic, just ceramic coating on a maintenance package is a very… That takes about two days to do.
So, but… Where else are you excited to take your Corvette? I’m really excited to take this car to Bowling Green. I’m excited to take it to… I want to do a bull run in this car, or I want to do the 2904 with this car. Really, I want to do the 2904.
