Hello, Kansas City area. We are so glad you joined us today on the Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast, the premier Kansas City car detailing podcast. Today we have with us Thomas Till, the founder of Bespoke Automotive Refinement, and he is here today to inform us, educate us, and to enlighten us on all that Bespoke has to offer.

Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for allowing me to be here. So you have been detailing cars for how long? Oh gosh, um, 15 years.

Have you learned a lot in the last 15 years? You could say that, yeah. I think I’ve learned, I’ve learned some stuff. If you were to talk to teenage Thomas when your dad gave you a punishment for cleaning these old Royal Ridge rig trucks, what would you tell him? What is something he’s doing that you’re like, that’s, no, I shouldn’t have.

Well, I don’t think, I don’t think 14 year old me would believe it. I grew up in a town where it was, it was a very big occasion to see a Corvette drive through town. Um, I remember the one occasion that I saw a Porsche drive through town.

We see Porsches on literally every street corner where we live. And I remember the one time I saw a Porsche drive through my hometown. Uh, so we didn’t see exotic cars and we didn’t see nice vehicles.

It was a farm town. It was an oil town. So there really wasn’t that type of stuff, but I was always a big car guy.

I always, I had books as a little kid that I would just, I would flip through photo books of super cars and look at the interiors and look at the exteriors, look at the body lines. I was always obsessed with that. And so I don’t think, I don’t think 14 year old me would believe it because I don’t think 14 year old me believed that a world outside of that existed.

What are some cars you’ve worked on in the Kansas city area that you wish you could tell 14 year old Thomas about? Uh, I think the one that 14 year old Thomas would really freak out the most about would be a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 sort of cloche that I did. Um, when I was a kid, that car was like a Bugatti or a Carrera GT or an Enzo Ferrari. That was like the top tier Lamborghini.

And I ended up performing a Kansas City car detailing service about 10 months ago. And I remember working on that car. I was sitting on a rolling chair and I scooted back to look at the panks.

I was cranking it. And I remember the exact angle that I was looking at this car. There was a picture in a book that I’d been given when I was a little kid of the exact color, exact spec in this book.

And I honestly got kind of emotional because I was like, wow, like I never thought I’d ever see
one of these cars. Now I’m working on one. Wow.
That is so cool. Yeah. Uh, the other one would be a Jaguar XJ220.

Uh, I worked on one of those about six, seven months ago. And you know, that was, that was really cool. So you recently just worked on your most expensive thing.

Vehicle. Yeah. I’m trying to even figure out what word to use, but a transportation device.
Can you tell us a little bit about your most recent experience with this item? Yeah. So about three months ago, I went to the largest Ferrari rally in North America. Uh, I w I was, I was sponsoring the event, but I was there as a, um, attendee and I had this really kind gentleman come up to me.

Uh, he was definitely there with the most expensive car, but he was the most unsuspecting guy. He had the most normal clothes on and he was driving a Ferrari LaFerrari, which if you know, Ferrari’s $2 million car. And, he was driving it.

I mean, he was like, it’s not a garage. He uses this thing. So he came up to me, asked me if I could do his Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

So I went back to, which is, excuse me. I went back to Kansas city and worked on the car for him. And then, uh, a couple of weeks ago, he called me and asked me if I did airplanes.

So he brought me out to his hangar and, um, I checked out his Learjet 25 and ended up doing a full exterior and interior detail on it and did a ceramic coating. So in this process, from the first time you ever picked up a towel and a cheap Walmart polishing kit to now what has been probably the biggest things that you’ve learned and what sets you apart from other detailers? The biggest thing I’ve learned is you can’t really take shortcuts when you’re detailing, especially when you’re doing something high end. So naturally I’m one that will try to find the shortest way to do something.

And detailing has taught me to find the right way. It’s also made me a problem solver. I didn’t used to be a problem solver as a kid.

And some of these projects that I’ve worked on over the years, I’ve, I’ve had to figure stuff out. And you know, when you’re, when you’re doing a paint correction on a multimillion dollar car, that’s hand painted and no one’s really ever paint corrected a car like that before. You can’t call someone when you can’t figure out why the paint isn’t correcting properly.

You just have to figure it out on your own. So paint correction has taught me to be more patient. It’s taught me to slow down.

And so I would honestly say the best thing for me that I learned was paint correction. And, um, and I think the thing that sets me apart from everyone else is I genuinely obsess over making something perfect. I will literally lose money spending way too much time on a project, making it perfect because I obsess over this stuff for, for some reason that’s beyond me.

So if somebody is wanting you to become obsessed with their car and making it perfect in the Kansas City car detailing area, how would they get a hold of you?
