Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy busy schedule to join us tonight and talk about cars. Oh my gosh, thank you so much for having me on. I just absolutely love coming on and talking about cars and Kansas City car detailing and all of just all things Kansas City car detailing.

It’s just the best. So today we’re going to be seeing what facts you do know and see if any of these facts in this list surprise you. Are you ready? Yep, let’s hear it.

We’re gonna break down 20 weird car facts that many of your friends would not know. Now, you’re not just a regular friend. You are literally the number one car enthusiast in the world.

So I’m curious to see what all you know about these. Fact number one, the McLaren F1 door mirrors are actually straight from the VW Corrado and its rear lights are from the Lamborghini Diablo. I knew about the rear lights being from a Lamborghini Diablo, but I did not know about the mirrors.

That’s wild. That’s interesting. They would piece it together like that in different companies.

Well, McLaren was never like back in the 90s. The F1’s like a 35 to 50 million dollar car now, by the way. When the McLaren F1 came out, McLaren wasn’t like a huge company.

They made race cars. So it kind of makes sense that they pieced it together with other brands. Yeah, but still that’s that’s wild about the mirrors.

I did not know that. Number two, Volvo is the first car manufacturer to fit six-figure odometers to its cars, which shows just how reliable they are. Did you say six-figure? Wow.

I didn’t know that. I did not know that. That’s pretty interesting.

When you think about it, like, I remember my parents telling me when I bought my first car, like, you know, 100,000 miles is like the end of the car’s life, versus now, like, 100,000 miles on a car is like kind of just, it’s getting broken. Yeah. You know, like, it’s not a lot anymore.

But I remember as a kid, like, a car hit 100,000, it’s time to get a new one. Like, not the case anymore. So true.

Number three, the 2001, in 2001, the queen took delivery of a brand new Land Rover Defender 110, which was bespokely fitted with a V8 and automatic gearbox as she was already 75 years old at this point. However, soon after receiving it, she returned it and asked if they could put a manual in it. I didn’t know she knew how to drive.

Bro, that’s cool. That is cool. I didn’t know that.

But like, I mean, an older Land Rover Defender with a manual transmission, come on. Come on. That is, that is like next level baller, in my opinion.

All right, fun fact number four, the XJ part of the Jaguar XJ is short for experimental Jaguar XJ. Well, like in the XJ 220. I believe that because I performed a Kansas City car detailing service on a Jaguar XJ 220.

And a car being from the 90s, like, it looks so modern. Like if you would have seen one of those cars in the 90s, it would have looked like something from another planet. So that makes sense.

I didn’t know that. But that makes sense. Yeah.

Number five, the Porsche 997 911 GT3RS has so much Alcantara because the GT department boss, Andreas, for me here, loved it after owning several Lancia Delta Integrales. What’s an Alcantara? You know what suede is? Uh huh. It’s like suede, but it’s way thicker.

Okay. So, um, yeah, it’s basically like suede, but it’s thicker. It’s, it’s really like, it’s really cool to have a car with Alcantara on it.

It’s like a, it’s like carbon fiber for the interior. Number six, did you know that Top Gear began in 1977 as a monthly half hour program only shown in the Midlands? What’s very interesting is Top Gear is one of those shows that I always grew up watching. And, um, I didn’t know this, but like, it was very, it was, it was way more popular in the UK than it ever was in the U S but I always, I always loved watching Top Gear.

So, um, but I did not know that about it at all. That’s pretty cool. Number seven, the Audi 80 and the 100 were called what they were because that’s how much horsepower they had.

And what was it? The Audi 80 and Audi 100. I didn’t know that. That’s really interesting.

That’s really interesting. Number eight, the Smart Roadster had the same wheelbase as a 997 generation of Porsche 911. Which one did? The Smart Roadster has the same wheelbase as the 997 generation of Porsche 911.

That’s really weird. I did. I would have never guessed that.

But now as I’m imagining a Smart Roadster and the 997 Porsche 911 Carrera, yeah, that makes perfect sense. I would have never guessed that. Next up is the V10 engine seen in the Dodge Viper was actually made from a Lamborghini.

I knew that one. You knew that one? Well, I, okay. So I, I, I owned a V10 Viper and when we were, it had a rear end collision and part of the ECU was damaged and you couldn’t buy the Dodge Viper had been discontinued.

So we couldn’t get the ECU wiring for the rear, like rewiring the whole entire car and the rear end. So we figured out that they took the drivetrain from the Lamborghini Gallardo and put it in the Viper. Lamborghini is owned by Audi.

So we literally went to an Audi dealership and bought the part for the Viper. So that’s how I learned that prior to that, I would have never known. Wow.

That’s wild. Next up the development and release of the 4WD version of Lamborghini Diablo was delayed because as Lori was transporting the prototype back from testing thieves broke into it. I heard that.

Um, I have heard that story before. Yeah. Um, that’s wild.

Yeah. It’s been a year since I heard that story, but that is wild. Next up, despite Germans actually inventing the car, it wasn’t them who dominated the production cars in the early days until 1906, France was producing more cars than any other nation.

Do you know who took over next after the French? U.S. of A baby. The U.S. of A? Exactly.
