Hello Kansas City and welcome back to Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast. We’re so glad that you’re here with us tonight to talk about cars. Thomas, thank you so much for joining us and for sharing with us your wisdom.
Thank you so much for having me on. I just love coming on here every week and talking about cars and Kansas City car detailing and all the fun and cool things that we’re doing with cars. Today we’re going to be talking about some stories and just unique insights from Thomas.
He literally deals with cars all day. I mean you are literally working on one of your dreams, maybe a dream car, but maybe a car you never thought you’d actually see in person this next week. Like you’ve been working next to it this week and then now you’re actually touching your hands on it starting next week.
So you live a pretty cool life. You have all kinds of really unique stories. But first off the bat, let’s talk about why Bespoke Refinement is number one in Kansas City car detailing.
Now I like this line that says, car washes like fast food and we’re a five-star chef. Oh I like that. That’s us.
That’s what Bespoke even means. It’s a luxury. It’s taking care of your cars with the most respect.
It gives it a luxury pampering effect, but it also, as you as a client, we come to you. We make your life easier, make your life better. Personally, before I met Thomas, I would go through Charlie’s car wash and it’d be a whole thing.
Like I have to clean up my car. I have to go there. I’d bring my computer with me and sit for a long time.
Sometimes even up to an hour of me just waiting, putting my life on hold as I clean my car. Then I would get into it and I’m like, they forgot this. They forgot that.
This is still dusty. It gets a generic job done, but it’ll never get my dog’s hair out of it. It always still had spots all over and I would have to go through later and kind of complete the job.
So there’s nothing quite like having Bespoke Automotive Refinement get their hands on your car and make it tip top, but also makes your life so much easier. I completely agree. And we’re experts in this field.
So we’ve been doing this for, I mean, I’ve been at this for 15 years now. I’m not going to say I’m the master, but I’m the master. And so I look at something, I know exactly what it needs, I know exactly where to start.
And I’m confident that a lot of the other mobile detailers in our area are trying to figure out how to make a quick buck. I’m trying to figure out how to make every vehicle perfect. Ooh, I love that.
He really does. He will spend twice as long on a car, making sure that it is done with the utmost respect to its vehicle. Let’s talk a little bit about some of the cars that you’ve been working on recently.
You’ve been working on a couple Ferraris as of recently, but tell us a little bit about some of the top cars that you’ve worked on. Maybe some unique stories. You know, I think the most unique story is about a guy who had been trying to contact me for years.
And I was not really paying attention to his messages on Facebook because his Facebook profile is very generic. Ended up doing all of his vehicles. He ended up being the President of Ferrari Owners of North America.
And I’ve gone to rallies with him. I’ve driven numerous Ferraris that he owns. Well, we drove away on our wedding day.
That’s what I was going to say. We literally drove away from our wedding in one of his Ferraris. And that was someone who’d been liking my social media posts since 2017.
And I didn’t even know who he was. As far as cars that I’ve worked on that are very interesting, I mean, I did a McLaren Senna last summer. That was a really cool car to get to work on.
I did a Lamborghini Stratato not that long ago, which was also really cool to one of those in person. Jaguar XJ220, a million dollar car that, you know, you’ll see 20 Bugattis in your lifetime before you ever see an XJ220. So being able to have worked on one of those.
And then just a lot of really cool vintage Ferraris. Stuff that, you know, it’s a treat seeing a modern Ferrari. Very seldom do you ever see a vintage one.
And I take for granted how many of them I’ve gotten to work on. Yeah. Have you ever worked on an illegal, street legal car here? A car that’s not legal to be driven.
In the United States? I didn’t know that was even a thing to watch in Fast and Furious. And I would never have thought of one car not being legal here. But you’re like, that’s fine.
You’ve worked on a Nissan Skyline. I have not. I’ve not done a Skyline.
Unfortunately, that’s one car on my list that I want to be able to do. No, actually, you know what? I did. I had a friend who had, that’s right.
I have a friend who had an R34 GTR V-spec 2 Nürburgring edition. I worked on that. But that car was legal in the States.
I have done one. It was a FD3 RX7. It was a Spirit edition.
And, if you don’t know cars, that’s literally just an old Mazda sports car. But, you know, it was something that this guy had shipped over pre-Motorex. We’re not going to get into that whole debacle, but he shipped it in pre-Motorex and they never made it to the car.
So it was just, had switched hands numerous times under the radar and it ended up here in Kansas City and I gotta do some work on it. So. That’s cool.
What are your top five cars you’d ever like to work on? Number one for me would be a Koenigsegg Agera one-to-one. Because I actually think I can make the car lighter. Really? It’s a car that is very, like, every, every inch of the car is, was weighed.
It’s the most perfectly balanced power to weight ratio car ever. And I think taking the excess clear coat off of it could actually lighten it. Wow, that’s interesting.
So, um, a Koenigsegg one-to-one for sure. Uh, Pagani Huayra. It’s one of the most beautiful cars ever made and I’d love to be able to work on one and, you know, all the intricate body lines and curves and I’d love to do a Pagani Huayra.
Um, Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds. So the 67 Shelby GT500 with the Eleanor recreation is something that I’ve never even seen one in person. Um, done.
I have a cousin who’s building one but it’s not getting anywhere. Um, I would love to do a Lamborghini, um, SVJ Aventador. I’ve done a couple Aventadors but never an SVJ.
And then a Lamborghini Countach would be another one. Last question. Um, what are 10 things only a true car guy would obsess over about any car? 10 things.
Um, the way it sounds. You’ll show me a sound of a car and I’m like, I would have thought something was wrong with it if that would have driven past me. The sound of a car, the looks or the cleanliness, making sure it’s always detailed and clean, which is something that, you know, we offer with our Kansas City car detailing services through Bespoke Refinement.
Um, the wheels that it has. Most car guys like myself hate factory wheels so the first thing that we change is the wheels. Um, window tint.
A lot of car guys like to, car culture is kind of interesting but you can tell what part of car culture someone bit, someone is in based on their windows and their wheels on their car. So you can tell a street racer by a track driver by, um, you know, one of those anime car show guys that we talked about just 100% based on what wheels they have and their window tint. Yeah.
So. I love it. So somebody’s wanting to get a hold of you to talk more about Kansas City car detailing services, Kansas City car detailing packages or talk more about just cars in general.
