Hello, Kansas City, and welcome back to the Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast. We are so glad that you joined us today to talk about Kansas City Car Detailing Services, Kansas City Car Detailing Packages, and everything that Bespoke Refinement has to offer. Today we have with us Thomas Till, the owner and founder of Bespoke.
Thank you, Thomas, for joining us. Thank you so much for having me on again, Avery. I just love coming on here every week and talking about cars, Kansas City Car Detailing, all of the cool services that we offer to the Kansas City Detailing area.
Today we’re going to be going through some questions that people might be thinking in their mind about mobile detailing in general. Number one, how often should you detail your car? As often as you want. I mean, I recommend at least doing it once a month.
That way it doesn’t get too far out of hand and you don’t have a lot of excess cleaning to do as it builds up over time. It’s kind of like a home. And if you keep your home in really good shape, you don’t have to do a thorough, deep clean on it if you let it go for six months.
So cars are very similar in my mind. You can do it as often as you want. I mean, I’ve had cars before where I detail them twice a week.
Yeah. So what is paint protection film, PPF? And would somebody need it? Is that something we offer? PPF, it’s not something that we offer because that’s not a mobile. You can’t really do that.
Well, you can’t do it. But, yeah, PPF is a incredible service. It’s basically a clear film that you put over.
I call it the high traffic areas of your car. So, like, wheel wells, rocker panels, front bumper, hood, front fender, areas that can get rock chips. And I’ve had Kansas City car detailing customers have had their entire cars PPF’d before.
That’s actually a really good move. So, yeah, I 100% recommend PPF. Kind of a follow-up to that in a way.
What is ceramic coating and do you recommend it? Is that something you do? Yeah, so ceramic coating is a polymer-based coating that we put on the exterior of your vehicle. We put it on the paint. We put it on the trim.
We put it on the wheels. We put it on the glass. We put it on everything on the exterior.
You can even ceramic coat your interior if you want. Basically, a ceramic coating is a polymer-based coating that can last anywhere from one year to ten years, depending on what package you purchase. And it prevents bug gut etchings getting into your paint, bird dropping etchings getting into your paint.
It keeps your clear coat hydrated so, over time, your paint doesn’t get that dry, doled-out, faded look to it. We perfect the paint as good as we can before we ceramic coat the vehicle. So, we’re not sealing any imperfections into the paint, but we highly recommend it.
And that is a service that we do offer. And then, if somebody wants to go one step further and they’re like, my car has seen some things, or I got a brand-new car and it’s not perfect, what do you offer that can make their paint look better? We offer different paint correction packages. So, we offer a single-stage paint correction package that, you know, it’s actually what I need to do on this Jeep.
Just getting the paint looking good again, removing any light defects, rehydrating the clear coat. And then, we have our two-stage paint correction package, and the two-stage paint correction package is going to perfect about 99% of the defects. So, it’s going to get rid of any orange peel, it’s going to get rid of all of the little things in the paint that, you know, most people may not notice.
It’s going to get rid of a lot of etchings and bird droppings, and it’s a great way to make the vehicle look brand-new again. If somebody got ceramic coating or they got the car paint corrected, what would you recommend for somebody who’s like, I want to make sure that I take care of this? You know, the best way to take care of it is to keep the vehicle washed on a repetitive base, keep it detailed on a constant basis. You know, you can ceramic coat your car and then run it through an automatic car wash, let it sit outside, not take care of it, not make sure it stays clean, and it’s still going to get dirty.
You can still reduce the life of the coating by maintaining it in a proper manner. So, the best way to make sure that after you get the car paint corrected and ceramic coated and your interior perfected is to get on a reoccurring monthly detailing plan just to make sure that it’s always kept clean, the paint’s kept hydrated, and you’re going to get the most life out of the coating, and you’re going to get the most life out of the paint correction if the vehicle’s maintained properly. So, something that I’ve seen in videos is people use a steamer, they use a steam at some point.
Do you use it, and what’s the benefit, and what do you use it on? I use it on occasion. Primarily, I’ll use it if there’s a lot of stuck on substance in the carpet, like if there’s gum in the carpet or there’s, you know, just something that got hard that dried in the carpet’s the best way to remove it with steam cleaning. I see a lot of detailing videos of people using a steam cleaner on dirty floor mats or dirty carpet, and yeah, the steam can lift it, but really the best way to lift it is to brush it out and scrub it out.
Steaming it’s just going to heat it up and soil it more. It doesn’t always lift. It doesn’t really matter if you’re steam cleaning if you don’t have something that’s really stuck in the carpet or stuck in the fibers of the fabric.
That makes sense. What products do you use? I use Carpro. I use Adams, Gtechnic, Yum.
We use 3D products. We use a lot of 3D products. Primarily, I would say Adams and Carpro are the two main ones that I use.
They’re higher end. I don’t use Chemical Guys. I don’t know why, but whenever I hear a detailer say that they like a Chemical Guys product, I quit listening because Chemical Guys kind of sucks.
So I’m not a Chemical Guys person, but my big ones are Carpro, Adams, Gtechnic, and 3D. Next question. Why do you like cars so much? Why do I like cars so much? I’ve always been infatuated with this concept that you can buy a car and then you can personalize it and it becomes an extension of your own personality.
So you’ve got guys that will buy an old Volkswagen Jetta, and they’ll personalize it, and anytime you see the car, you correlate that with that person. And then if you’ve got a guy who builds a 1500 horsepower Lamborghini and you see that car on the road, that’s an extension of that person because they built that. They put time into that.
It’s almost like taking the interior of your home, because the interior of your home can be an extension of who you are. It’s like you’re driving around the interior of your home for everyone else to see. You can personalize it, you can make it your own, you can make it unique, a one-of-one in its own way.
I think that’s why I like cars. And I like going fast, but I also really appreciate slow cars that just look really clean.
