Hello, Kansas City, welcome back to the Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast. I am your host, Thomas Till, and today we are going to be talking about the five greatest supercars of all time. Now, something about me, I love supercars.
And I don’t know if it has to do with the fact that I grew up in an area that, you know, never really had supercars, didn’t really get to see a whole lot of them when I was a young kid. So you know what, actually, we’re going to do the 10 greatest supercars. That makes sense.
Yeah, I grew up in a town with, you know, the coolest car in town was a was a 1971 Chevy Corvette. That was literally it. So, you know, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, all that.
I think that’s why I’m so passionate about Kansas City car detailing and specifically working on supercars because I grew up in an area that had no supercars. So first on the list is the Ferrari F40. And this makes perfect sense.
I mean, I’ve done several Kansas City car detailing packages and services on Ferrari F40s. I’ve been lucky enough to drive an F40. And it’s it’s it was such an underrated car when it came out.
I mean, it was, you know, $300,000 new. And then they jumped up to like 350. And they stayed there for almost 20 years.
And then in the last 15 years, I mean, they’ve jumped up to four to 5 million even actually one just sold for $6 million recently. So it’s the if you haven’t driven an F40, and you want to know what it’s like. It’s like an overpowered go kart with very little carpet and very little sound deadening on the interior.
I mean, it is. It was it was a very good car to do a Kansas City car detailing package on because it literally had nothing on the interior. And then, you know, the paint, it’s single stage paint, but they made the paint job so thin to reduce paint that it’s super thin.
So you don’t really have a lot of paint to work with. Next on the list is the Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4. Now, I have several Kansas City car detailing clients who own the Bugatti Veyrons. It’s another car that I have been lucky enough to to ride in.
I’ve not driven a Veyron, but it’s one of my dream cars. It’s definitely one of the most iconic supercars, you know, borderline hypercar that I think’s ever ever existed. I mean, you’re talking about a car that when it came out new, it could do 250 miles an hour, had four turbos, a W12 engine, or a W16 engine.
So it literally has eight cylinders on each side of the engine. That’s insane. I mean, that’s just even to this day, that’s still wild.
Now, next on the list is going to be the Lamborghini Miura. Lamborghini Miura, I wouldn’t call that car the the greatest supercar in the world. Just because to me a supercar is a mid engine can do over 200 miles an hour.
To me the Miura is a sports car, but I will say the Miura is definitely the prettiest car ever. I know at the Geneva Auto Show when the Lamborghini Miura came out, it was without a doubt the most beautiful car of all time. It was made to look like a woman’s, a beautiful woman’s face, the headlights for the eyelashes, the mirrors for the eyebrows, the grill was supposed to be the smile of a beautiful woman.
And in the 1960s, if you would have seen a Lamborghini Miura, you would totally get it. I mean, I can’t imagine what people were thinking when they saw a Lamborghini Miura in the 1960s. Next on the list is going to be the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Now, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is, I know they’re street legal, but like, it’s literally like a Formula One car that you can drive on the street. You have to wear a headset when you’re driving it if you want to have a conversation with the person riding next to you, because it’s so loud inside of it. Steering wheel is actually a Formula One steering wheel, or some sort of like GT3 race car steering wheel.
So that car, no doubt that’s supercar. I think that’s actually hypercar level. But to be honest, I don’t know a whole lot about the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Next on the list is going to be the Acura NSX. That car makes perfect sense to me. I don’t know if we’re going off of, this list is going off the new one.
And I 100% agree with it. I mean, it’s like, it’s a hybrid. So it’s, I wouldn’t really call it a hypercar.
You know, twin turbo V6, small electric motor. It’s beautiful. I mean, anytime I see an NSX, I get excited because they’re rare.
They have a beautiful, beautiful rear fascia, front fascia. I love the interior on the NSX. It’s simple.
It’s kind of made to look like the older NSX from the late 2000s. Or I’m sorry, the late 90s. But yeah, I mean, whether we’re going off a new NSX or an old NSX, that car definitely belongs on the list.
And I’ve been lucky enough to work on several NSXs with my Kansas City Car Detailing clients. Next on the list is the Bugatti Chiron. Now that car, I wouldn’t even call that a supercar either.
I would call that a hypercar. Because it is. It’s literally a hypercar.
I speed of 300 miles an hour. Think about that. 300 miles an hour.
I remember when 250 I remember when 200 miles an hour was like unheard of. People were like, if you did 200 miles an hour, even seven or eight years ago, 200 miles an hour was insane. Now, make a car that goes 300.
I want to know how many people actually have gone 300 miles an hour in a Bugatti Chiron. That’s just absolutely insane. And I saw a recently I saw a video where they put a Chiron pure sport up against a Koenigsegg Jesko.
And they were dead even like it was the closest race I’ve ever seen. They were dead even and it was just it made perfect sense though. The only difference and I’ve never never driven a Chiron.
I’ve never driven a Jesko. But people that I’ve talked to that have driven them people that I’ve talked to that have owned both of them say that the the Chiron you don’t actually feel the speed you don’t feel the acceleration because it’s so comfortable. But the Jesko any Koenigsegg really, but the Jesko or the the one to one or the you know, a Garra RS the Garra are the power in those cars are just brutal.
And I think that’s that’s the big difference is you have to you have to actually drive a Koenigsegg because a Koenigsegg will try to kill you. But a but a Chiron or a Veyron I was actually talking to a friend of mine today who owns a Bugatti Veyron and he was telling me he’s like, dude, it does not feel fast. It feels like you’re driving a Bentley.
And the speedometer is just moving really fast, but you don’t actually feel the acceleration.
