Hello, Kansas city. Welcome back to Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast. We are so glad that you’ve joined us on this beautiful summer day in May.
We’re getting close to the summer. Thomas, as many people are going or getting close to summertime, they’re going to be going on trips or when to protect the cars from the sun or the heat, what are some things that they should do for their summer car? I think the best bang for buck, honestly, is our, uh, gold package. It’s one of the best bang for buck Kansas city car detailing services that we offer.
So far, depending on the size of your vehicle, it ranges from $500 to $750, but it is a full interior and exterior detail. So we. Can’t do the carpet, shampoo, the seats, condition, the leather.
We get the interior looking as close to new as possible. And then we perform a thorough, uh, exterior detail, and then we polish the paint and we apply a six month ceramic sealant to the paint. So your car is protected.
It’s going to be protected from bird etchings, bird dropping etchings from like bird poop that, you know, lands on the roof of the car and then sits in the sun and stains the paint. It’ll prevent that, but it’ll also prevent bugs from sticking to the front of the car and then it makes it easier to get them off as well as prevents little bugs, gut etchings and bug gut stains from sticking to the front of your car over time. So to me, that’s the biggest game changer that we offer.
So today we’re talking about vintage cars compared to their car equivalents. Some of these Thomas do agree with some of them. He doesn’t.
So I’m curious to hear more of his thoughts in this podcast. If you’ve missed any, any of our other Kansas city car detailing, uh, podcast, please go back through our past shows and check them out. Number one on the list for today is a 1968 Pontiac GTO known as the judge.
Oh, do you know this guy? I do know that car is like, have you ever seen the movie American graffiti? No, I did not. That car is like every person in the seventies, late seventies and eighties wanted that car after that movie came out, I love the judge. I think that, do I ever have any desire to own one? Probably not.
Cause I don’t know enough about Pontiacs to really be able to appreciate it. But I know that they’re really rare. I know they have a ton of power for 42 six packs, um, small blocks.
The eight made a ton of torque, kind of one of the last true American muscle cars that ever came out. Um, yeah, I, it definitely belongs on the list as far as what the modern counterpart is, I don’t really know what it would be because Pontiac went out of business in 2010, 2011. So I don’t know what that modern counterpart would be.
A Chevy. And it said it was retired. Um, but it says a 2023 Chevy SS.
Yeah. My best friend of all time had one of those. Oh, really? Josh had one.
Oh, cool. So my best friend, he traded a built Z06 Corvette and older one for a Chevy SS. And, um, I thought it was crazy.
And then I got to drive the car and spend some time with the car. I actually performed a very extensive Kansas city car detailing service on that car, um, spent about a week and a half working on that car and it, it was, it was beautiful. It was cocaine white.
Um, it was one of only five that was in cocaine white. It was called cocaine white. That’s the name of it.
Okay. It was a very, very brilliant white that when it was paint corrected and ceramic coated, it looked in the sun, it was almost blinding. It was such a bright, beautiful car, very rare spec had a full moon roof, which was really rare for that generation.
And then it had the 4L80E transmission, which was a really rare option. So yeah, I don’t really know why they would compare that to a GTO judge because the GTO judge is a two door muscle car and the SS was a four door, but nonetheless, both cars definitely deserve to be on the list somewhere because they’re both really, really awesome. Next up we have a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS.
Dude, I was waiting for you to say 911 Carrera RS. Yeah. That car is, you want to know what’s crazy? I’m also staring at one of those right now.
Oh, really? No kidding. There’s also one in this garage. You know, I’ve done several Kansas City car detailing packages on the Porsche 911 Carrera RS.
I don’t know a whole lot about the RS. I think it was a very lightweight, high displacement, high revving 911 that was primarily designed for, um, like a, a performance driver. So like it was, that was like the, the, the old school version of the GT3 RS.
Um, it was very fast for the day. Um, and the thing about the Porsche 911 that people don’t get is a base model Porsche 911 isn’t really a supercar. It’s like a fun sports car.
It’s really reliable and really well balanced, but it’s not a race car. You don’t get into the race car 911s until you get into the, um, turbos, the GT2, the GT3, um, the 4S, but I will say that the Carrera 4S in the seventies was 100% a badass supercar. And I imagine that the modern counterpart would be a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Um, it is, um, uh, they have a Porsche 911 GT3 touring. Oh, that makes sense. That makes sense because it’s manual.
So the GT3 RS was an automatic. It had PDK, which is a really advanced transmission, but the touring was manual and the Carrera 4S was manual or the Camaro R the Carrera RS was manual. So I, that, that makes perfect sense that that, that that’s what they put on there.
I actually agree with that. All right. Next up on the list, we have a 1969 AMC AMX.
An AMC AMX. Now I don’t know if you like the counterpart just cause it’s an EV. So I was going to tell you, but they have a Dodge Charger EV Daytona.
I know what that is. I mean, I guess that makes sense because the AMC was never really supposed to be like a muscle car. It was just a classic economy car.
That was cool. That yeah, I, I guess that makes sense. I don’t like either one of those cars, but their comparisons are actually pretty spot on because it’s an EV.
It’s a cool looking economy car. And the AMC was also an economy car that looked kind of cool retro, but wasn’t fast, so yeah, that makes sense.
