Hello and welcome back to the Bespoke Refinement Podcast. I’m your host, Thomas Till. I’m the founder, owner, and operator of Bespoke Refinement, the number one Kansas City car detailing service.
Guys, today we’re going to be talking about Lamborghini versus Ferrari. I mean, this is an argument, this is a battle that’s been going on since the 60s. So, today I played with a Ferrari in the morning, and then in the afternoon I was playing with a Lamborghini Aventador.
And the owner of the Ferrari is a hardcore Ferrari enthusiast, hardcore Ferrari collector. And the owner of the Lamborghini that I spoke to today, he has owned numerous Lamborghinis in his life, has no interest in ever owning a Ferrari. And, you know, in the car community, especially here in the United States, you hear about Ford versus Chevy, right? That’s a big one.
Everyone in the United States that’s into cars knows about Ford versus Chevy. But when you get into the supercar community, there’s this battle between Ferrari versus Lamborghini. So what’s the difference? What’s my opinion? Why do I have that opinion? And maybe this will help confirm your opinion or give you a better idea on what you would want if you had the money to be able to afford a Ferrari or a Lamborghini.
Obviously, over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on both Lamborghinis and Ferraris with my Kansas City car detailing service. So working on the two has really given me an appreciation for both of them. So let’s start with Ferrari.
Ferrari is a handmade, tailor-made brand. These cars are not vehicles that you would look at the fit and finish of and say, that is perfect. So typically, Ferrari guys will get frustrated when a Lamborghini owner says, well, the build quality of the Ferrari isn’t as good as the Lamborghini because Lamborghinis are built in a factory on an assembly line by robots.
They’re essentially built in an Audi factory. So Ferrari is kind of comparable to a pair of Prada shoes. If a stitch is off or the leather isn’t aligned 100% perfectly to the shoe, you’re not going to look at that Prada shoe and say, well, the build quality and the craftsmanship sucks.
You’re going to say, well, it’s a handmade shoe. So of course, it’s not going to be perfect. That’s Ferrari.
Now, over the years, working on Ferraris with my Kansas City car detailing services, I’ve noticed that Ferraris build quality on the interior very clearly are handmade. I mean, the stitching is off. Typically, the interior panels either don’t line up properly or they sit too close together and they can squeak.
The leather, over time, begins to pull up because rather than being glued when the panel is made, Ferrari will first make the panel and then glue the leather to the panel, causing it to, over
time, pull up. That’s just another sign that they’re handmade. So now let’s talk about Lamborghini.
Lamborghini, as I said, they’re built in an Audi factory. Lamborghini is essentially Audi. Now, why is this important? Well, if you’ve ever sat in an Audi, they’re perfect on the interior.
They’re like a microwave. They do exactly what they’re supposed to do. They always look perfect.
Their panels are lined up perfectly. Their interior leather doesn’t pull up over time. The stitching is always excellent.
Now, if you’re looking for a vehicle that’s perfect, that has no imperfections from the factory, a Ferrari isn’t the car for you because a Ferrari is very clearly going to emulate being handmade. Now, Lamborghini, when they first started out as a company, they weren’t a poor company.
Lamborghini was a tractor manufacturer, so they already had the manufacturing side of things figured out, and they didn’t have to form systems and processes to production like Ferrari did because they already had production figured out.
They already had their systems and processes figured out. Over the years, when I do a Kansas City car detail on a Lamborghini, I don’t have to worry about wiping the panels down on the interior in a certain way. I don’t have to worry about what chemicals I’m using because they are handmade on the inside.
You’re never going to look at a pair of Air Jordans and wonder if they’re perfectly put together because they are perfectly put together because they’re made in a factory by a robot. So, of course, they’re going to be perfect. And they’re all the same.
They just have different colors, different designs, but essentially they’re the exact same every time. Ferrari is handmade, and it’s not going to be as perfect. When it comes to booking one of our Kansas City car detailing packages, one thing that I can assure you, if you own a Ferrari, we have a specific set of chemicals and tools and systems that we perform on a Ferrari that’s bespoke to any other car manufacturer because we understand with these cars being handmade, you can’t use certain chemicals on the leathers and you can’t use certain techniques that you can use on, say, a Lamborghini or a Porsche.
Same goes with Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Spyker, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati. These brands, being hand-built cars, require a different level of care than factory-made, robot-built cars like Lamborghini, Porsche. Those brands are like microwaves.
They’re perfect every time. Another brand that I’ve really become a fan of over the years is Pagani. It’s a craft-manufactured vehicle, but they’re actually handmade.
So every stitch is perfect. You don’t ever have to worry about the leather pulling up over time. You don’t ever have to worry about the interior panels not lining up properly because these are
multi-million dollar cars going to clients who are going to be extremely picky and extremely meticulous when they take delivery of their car.
Then you have Koenigsegg. Koenigsegg is kind of its own category. These cars are built like spaceships.
They’re built with aerospace materials, but the fit and finish on a Koenigsegg is perfect, just like a Pagani. But it’s very different than a Ferrari because Koenigsegg, Pagani, and even Bugatti, they’re almost always perfect. So guys, if you own a Ferrari, a Bugatti, a Koenigsegg, a Lamborghini, a Porsche, whatever the case is, and you’re looking to have your vehicle detailed, and you’re looking to have one of our Kansas City Car Detailing services performed, give us a call at 620-282-0402 or you can go online to BespokeRefinement.com.
