Today, for the last few days, I’ve been working on a boat and we’ve been doing a deep clean on the exterior as well as a ceramic coating, so we really do go all out, we’ll do lawn care equipment, we’ll do semis, trucks, vans, I worked on a 12-passenger van last week, so we literally do everything.
Well, guys, we’re going to be continuing the series on the top supercars and so next on the list is the Porsche 959. Now, the only thing I know about the 959 is at one point, it was the fastest car in the world. I know that Bill Gates owned one and I know that, I knew it was like a million dollars and they still stare on that million dollar price point, so I don’t know a whole lot about the Porsche 959 to be completely honest, but next on the list is one that I definitely know a lot about and that is the McLaren F1.
That car, a thousand percent belongs on this list, 100%. So, the McLaren F1 at one point was the fastest car in the world, had a top speed of 230 some miles an hour. What made the McLaren F1 so special though was that the driver’s seat was actually in the middle of the cockpit, so it’s like you were driving a fighter jet.
You could put two passengers next to you, you’d have one passenger on your left, one passenger on your right, and it was a three-person car and when it came out, it was 100% like a spaceship, but now you talk about a great investment. If you’d have bought a McLaren F1 in the 90s, you’d have paid $800,000, right? Well, now the McLaren F1, if you can find one, they’re fetching anywhere from $15 to $30 million just because of how rare, how special, how limited production they were and the cool thing about the McLaren F1 is there’s so few of them in the world that each McLaren F1 has its own unique story that most owners know, so if you’re a part of that prestige club of owning a McLaren F1, and odds are you know about every other McLaren F1 there is because you know the owners, you stay in touch with the lifestyle and the drama, but I will say that the McLaren F1 100% belongs on that list. Next on the list is the Ford GT.
Now the Ford GT definitely holds a special place in my heart because it’s the first fast car that I ever got to ride in as a little kid, so growing up, I grew up in this small town and there were like no cool cars, so I thought until I was like, I was nine or 10 years old and I discovered that our next door neighbor had this shed behind his house and he had, it was filled with old classic cars and one day in late spring, he had a truck and trailer pull up to his house and they unloaded a brand new 2006 Ford GT and I certainly had never seen a car like it in my life, but he was this nice elderly man and he was actually the president of the Shelby Owners Club of America and every year he would put on this Shelby and it was a Shelby and Mustang owners event at the local drag strip back home, so I begged my dad to take me out there and my dad did and you know, this guy was our neighbor, so obviously he recognized us and my dad said, hey, can he sit in your Ford GT and my neighbor goes, I’ll do you one better, I’ll take him down the drag strip in it. So the first fast car that I ever rode in and this spoiled me, I was 10, was a brand new 2006 Ford GT, which you know, now obviously like I’ve owned cars that are way faster than the Ford GT. I had a, you know, built supercharged Z06 that made 850 horsepower.
I had a built C6 Z06 that made 650 to the wheel. I mean, I’ve had cars that made more power, but that car was a benchmark for me for so many years because of not only what it represented, but ever since I rode in that car, I was chasing that same level of acceleration and torque and power and it’s just every time I see a Ford GT, it always takes me back to being a little kid again. Now, next on this list guys is going to be the Koenigsegg one-to-one.
This is definitely one of my all time dream cars. You’re talking $10 million if you can find one. I’ve never actually seen one for sale.
I’ve never seen a Koenigsegg one-to-one in person, but I think the best way to explain what a one-to-one is, is explain the name. So, the Koenigsegg one-to-one, if you don’t know, it’s the word one and then colon and the number one. One-to-one means it is the only car in the world, still this day, that has a perfect power to weight ratio, meaning it has one horsepower per kilo of weight.
So, the car makes 1,500 horsepower and the car weighs 1,500 kilos, which is like 2,800 pounds. That’s pretty crazy. I mean, the car literally weighs as much as it makes in power and I know at one point the one-to-one was the fastest car in the world, it’s still got to be.
Next on the list, guys, is the McLaren Artura. I’ll come right out and say it, I hate the Artura. I think that it looks just like a C8 Corvette.
I think that it was a marketing failure for McLaren. I was actually on the phone with a good friend of mine today, who is part owner of Hubie’s Garage and he owns an Artura and he even told me, it’s a huge marketing failure, the car looks identical to a C8 Corvette, the only real difference is it has the iconic McLaren doors, but it has a ton of problems like all McLarens do and if you’re not a car person and you see a McLaren Artura, you literally think, oh look, a C8 Corvette.
