Hello, Kansas City. Welcome back to Bespoke Automotive Refinement podcast. We’re so glad that you joined us today.

We are on our way currently to the Overland Parkside to do some work. In case you did not know, Bespoke Automotive Refinement, the number one Kansas City car detailing service business, does all of Kansas City. So within an hour radius of Kansas City, we can take care of you.

Now right now, Thomas, you are working on a Volkswagen. I’m working on a Volkswagen Jetta. So the car I’m doing, that I’m working on, and the package that I’m performing on this vehicle is literally like a fifth of the car’s value.

So it’s just someone who is really passionate about this car, you know, they want it to be as perfect as they can get it, and that’s what we’re doing. So we’re doing a full two-stage paint correction, ceramic coating, and just making the car look as new as we can get it. Doing a little bit of rock chip touch-up on it, just trying to get it dialed back in looking as close to new as possible.

Now for those of you that don’t know what paint correction is, it is actually one of our number one Kansas City car detailing services that we do offer. It’s number one because it’s such a great before and after, like it can truly transform your car. It’s also Thomas’s passion, he loves doing paint correction.

He does them for Volkswagens, all the way up to 10 million dollar cars. But for those of you that don’t know about it, Thomas, can you tell them a little bit about what paint correction is? Whenever you buy a brand new car and you notice that the paint isn’t very smooth, so it has a little bit of orange peel in it, texture in the paint, paint correction, depending on what level of paint correction we perform, can remove between 50 to 80 percent of that, and then the paint correction also leaves the finish looking brand new again. So we thin the clear coat down, the top layer of the clear coat down, the rough area, we get rid of any little scratches, any little divots in the paint, and that gives the paint a better than new, better than showroom new finish.

So it’s very intricate and I am one of the best people in the country, if not the world, that does paint correction. So there’s a lot of crappy detailers in Kansas City that say they do paint correction and really they’re just putting filler polish on a polishing pad and running it across your car and calling it a paint correction. That’s not a paint correction.

A paint correction is truly working one section, a six by six section of the vehicle until it’s perfected throughout the entire car. Now what kind of cars would you work on for paint correction? Like is any car something you do or is it just kind of specialized vehicles? Anything. I will do anything.

I mean I’m working on a $6,000 car today and it’s a $1,700 package, so you know I’ve done, I’ve done nine, I’ve done cars before where they paid more for the paint correction than they did the car because they bought something that the paint was really bad, but you know it was a special car, it was just cheap. So it does not have to be a specialized vehicle. Every vehicle on the road that hasn’t been paint corrected needs paint corrected.

Every single one. A couple times, right? Because you can say it’s been around for 50 years, 40 years, 20 years. It has seen some light.

If you go through a car wash, you can get the pads on, it might have rocks and then it makes scratches every time you touch paint, scratches it. So would you even say like every 10 years get a paint correction or is it more of a one-and-done? It completely depends on how you’re using the car and how perfect you want it to be. There’s a client of mine who has a, it’s a show car, it’s a race car, it’s a build out in Western Kansas and I paint corrected that car nine times.

Wow. Before it started getting too thin and you had to repaint it. But you can do a paint correction up to, you know, I would say probably every two or three years.

It’s probably smart. That’s what I like doing with my own vehicles. Every two to three years, just giving it a good refresh.

So whenever you buy a car, you do a paint correction on it? It’s the first thing I do. It is the first thing I do. Which one do you do? Because there’s different stages? It depends on what car.

I mean, you know, I’ve had Corvettes where I bought a Corvette that all it needed was a single stage correction and it was pretty much perfect because it was a one-owner garage-kept car. It was my first one. And then my second one, I did a two-stage paint correction on it because it had a lot of washing scratches.

And then my C6 Z06 that I bought, I did a three-stage paint correction. So I wet-sanded the entire car down. That would have been probably like a $5,000 detail.

That’s why I did it on that car. So it just depends on how much of a perfectionist you are and how how much money you’re willing to spend on the vehicle. There’s people that will buy a $400,000 Lamborghini and they know they’re gonna drive it a lot and they don’t want it to be perfect, but they want it to look better.

So they’ll do a single-stage paint correction. You know, a single-stage paint correction, you can you can do a hundred times because it’s very light. But the two-stage and the three-stage paint corrections, those packages, you can’t do them in excess.

Otherwise, you’ll go through the clear coat. So if somebody’s wanting to get it done, have this Kansas City car detailing paint correction done, how long does it take and do they need to drop off their car? Do they come to them still? What does that look like? We still come to you. The one that I’m working on right now from home, the person lives in downtown Kansas City, they don’t have a garage.

So that’s an instance where they bring the car to us and we work on it in our garage. Otherwise, you know, if you have a garage, we’ll come to you and do it. I’d say I’ve done 99% of the jobs that I’ve done in the last two years have all been from someone else’s home.

Really all we need is a garage with decent lighting and as far as time frame, it takes anywhere from, you know, we can do a single-stage paint correction in a day, but two-stage paint correction takes anywhere from three to four, three to five days, and then a three-stage paint correction takes a week to two weeks. So if somebody is wanting to get this done, what price point would they be looking at for a paint correction? It varies. If you’re wanting a single-stage paint correction done, you’re gonna be looking at about five to eight hundred, depending on the size of the vehicle, and then if you’re wanting a two-stage paint correction for a car, it starts at $1,700 and then it goes all the way up to $2,500 for a truck, and then three-stage paint corrections, we quote in person just because there’s no, there’s no way to really tell what it needs until, you know, we put eyes on it.
