Hello, Kansas City. Welcome back to the Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast. We are so glad that you’ve joined us on this beautifully perfect weather here in Kansas City.
We absolutely love talking all about Kansas City Car Detailing Services, Kansas City Car Detailing Packages, and really just about cars in general. That’s why we do this podcast, is it gives us time together and we really enjoy that, but also we get to talk about cars, which Thomas has literally never gotten tired about talking about cars. It’s true, I love talking about cars.
So today we’re gonna be breaking down some of the top cars ever with why that car is even on the list, and then a fun fact to go with it. So what are your thoughts, Thomas, for the top 20 supercars of significance? Okay, significance. There is the Lamborghini Miura, because it was deemed the most beautiful car ever seen at the Geneva Auto Show.
There’s the Ferrari F40. There is the Lamborghini Murcielago, Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari 812, Ferrari F12, Porsche, Carrera GT, Lexus LFA. There’s a lot, I mean there’s a ton that come to mind.
Are there any that you would not wanna get? Uh, like if it were gonna be one car, that like, all right, here’s, you can have one car. It wouldn’t be a Ferrari. I would love a Porsche Carrera GT.
Those have just gotten so ungodly expensive. I don’t think, I’d love to own one, but I would be scared to ever drive it. Probably any late, like anything later than 2000s Lamborghini, those are just, they’re clunky.
But, yeah. Number one on the list is a McLaren F1 from 1992. Why it matters? The first carbon fiber monocoque, monocoque, road car, gold-lined engine bay, and the fastest NA production car at 241.1 miles per hour.
Fun fact, the central driving position made it feel like a Formula One car for the street. I didn’t know they made cars with the seat in the middle. That’s one of the only cars ever made that did it.
Is it hard to drive? Is that why they didn’t make more? Is it what? Is it hard to drive? Is that why they didn’t make more? No, I think it was more like shock factor to people. Nothing had ever been made like that before. They wanted it to be the ultimate driving experience, and sitting in the middle of a car while driving it would be crazy.
There’s a guy named Gordon Murray who, I think he bought the rights to the F1, and so Gordon Murray now, it’s called the Gordon Murray T20, and it’s literally a McLaren F1 modernized. They make them now, and instead of 30 million, they’re still like two and a half million, which is still crazy, but a lot better than 30 million. So for two to three million dollars, you can own the experience of a McLaren F1 without having to dump all that money, and they’re the same way.
You’re seated in the middle. I think they’re pretty cool, though. Next up on the list is a Ferrari F40 from 1987.
Why it matters? It was the last car approved by Enzo Ferrari. Twin turbo V8, raw and race inspired. Fun fact, it had no traction control, no ABS, and no power steering, just pure analog insanity.
The F40’s the ultimate death trap, and a dear friend of mine owned one, and it was the car previously owned by Sylvester Stallone, and he literally told me that he bought that car knowing it was the ultimate death trap, and if he was gonna die in any car, he wanted it to be in the last car that Enzo approved. It was Chris. Really? He had an F40, and there’s a really cool picture I’ll have to dig up.
It was right after I moved here and started the Kansas City car detailing business. F40s are like $5 million a piece, and Chris had one of the rare Ferrari F40 LMs, which stands for Le Mans, and it was literally the car, it was like the body was identical to the Le Mans car, so it had the big wing on the back, it had wider body, and there’s only five LMs in the United States, and I got to see two of them parked right next to each other. Wow.
Chris’s was one, and there was another guy that had his that was in California, and it shipped it out to Blackhorse to be worked on, so I got to see two F40 LMs sitting right next to each other, and I got to do an F40, which was really cool. That’s really cool. So you performed a Kansas City car detailing service on a, wow.
Technically two, because when I would do cars at Blackhorse, you know, you get a lot of compound dust when you do a paint correction, and I was shooting compound dust all over this $5 million F40. Oh, wow. That whenever I’d get done, I would always wipe the F40 down, so I’ve technically detailed an F40 probably like 10 times, just wiping it down, which is pretty cool.
That is pretty cool. You can stand that close, you’re literally blowing dust on it. On an F40, and there’s people that, there were people that came all the way from Denver, Colorado that drove to Blackhorse just to see that F40 sitting in there.
Wow. They would beg Vince. They’re like, can I just come in and see it? Wow.
And I’m blowing dust all over it. That’s awesome. Next up on the list, number three is Bugatti Veyron from 2005.
Why it matters? It was the first car to break 250 miles per hour, redefined what a hypercar could be. Fun fact, at top speed, it burns a full tank in under 10 minutes. That is wild.
It’s one of my dream cars, is a Veyron. I want the Veyron Supersport. You should look up a picture of what a Veyron Supersport is.
Okay. It’s black, or it’s full carbon, and then the under part of it is orange. Oh, yeah.
I love that car. I love that car. You can have some that have blue.
Huh? They have one that’s blue. They have one that’s blue? Oh, yeah. I have a friend who, it’s actually really cool.
Like, I met him when he had this small vinyl wrap shop, and him and I went and got lunch one day, and he’s like, I think I’m gonna start a YouTube channel. And I was like, you should. And he blew it up, and he got to buy a Bugatti Veyron.
Wow. And he sold it recently, but really, really cool that I know several people that have owned Veyrons. He really enjoyed it.
He just sold it, because it wasn’t a business move. It was $16,000 a month was the car payment on it, and which is insane. That’s a lot.
And he said that every time he drove it, he felt like people were gonna run into him, because they were trying to take pictures of it, getting too close to him. Yeah. But I still, that’s one of my dream cars, is a Bugatti Veyron Supersport.
Number four is a, and this will be our last one for this podcast, is a Lamborghini Miura 1966. White Matters, it was the world’s first real supercar. Mid-engine layout.
Fun fact, Fruccio Lamborghini hated racing, but built this just to outshine Ferrari. What did I say? That was the first car I named on the list. It is.
The Miura is just iconic. And it’s so cool, because at one point, you could buy a Miura for like $7,000. Wow.
And now they’re like in the five to $10 million range, depending on the condition. And they’re gorgeous. They are gorgeous cars.
I’ve never seen a Miura. I don’t know anyone who’s ever owned a Miura, but what a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful car.
