Now, tonight, we’re gonna be talking about some of the top global leaders by production and sales as of 2024. Thomas, what do you think are the top brands, car brands in America? Not in America, I’m sorry. The top car brands in the world? This is global.
Global. Honda. Okay.
Toyota, Ford, Lexus, Nissan, Peugeot, Peugeot’s gotta be one, Hyundai, Range Rover. I’m gonna go ahead and say Porsche. I’m gonna say Porsche because Porsches are sold all over the country.
Chevys aren’t sold all over the world, you know that? I do not. You know, you won’t see Chevys in like Europe. That’s interesting, I did not know that.
You’ll see Fords, but you won’t see Chevys. Okay, interesting, I did not know that. All right, number one on the list.
Actually, let’s start at the bottom, work our way up. The 10th biggest global car company is BYD Auto. Do you know that one? BYD Auto.
Mm-hmm, they sold in 2024 about 4.27 million cars. They had a profit of 107 billion revenue with a net income of 5.6 billion. What’s the name of it? B as in boy, Y, D as in dog, Auto.
I’ve never heard of that one. Uh, it’s a Chinese brand, so they’re not sold in the U.S. Ah, makes sense. So, a lot of, like you’ll never see brands that are sold in the U.S. being driven in China.
You’ll never see cars that are made in China sold in the U.S. They’re like extremely illegal. You cannot own cars that were made in China or Russia in the United States. Well, that’s wild.
You can’t. Mm-hmm, that’s interesting. Number nine, so next up is Tesla.
1.79 million vehicles sold with a revenue of 97.7 billion dollars. I just don’t know why I didn’t think of them. Tesla has been one of the top ones.
It’s probably like almost two million in 2024. It’s a lot. Number eight, Nissan Motor Company with 3.37 million vehicles sold with an 84 billion dollar revenue.
Nissan makes sense because what I look at whenever I see photos of cars in other countries or photos of other countries in general, I look at what types of cars are being driven. Now, in London, you’re never gonna see someone driving around in a Chevy Tahoe. They don’t have Cadillac Escalades, but they have Nissan Altimas.
They have Nissan cars. They have Nissan pickup trucks. You look at the wars in Afghanistan, what are the terrorists using? Nissan and Toyota trucks.
So it’s like Nissan is a worldwide brand. There were Nissan trucks everywhere in Puerto Rico. Nissan everywhere in Mexico.
They’re everywhere, which is cool. Yeah, it’s true. Number seven, a Honda with 3.8 million dollar cars sold last year with 92 billion.
That’s a lot of money. And I believe that with Honda. I mean, I think that if someone came to me and said, I’m looking for a first car, what should I get? Honda, max question.
Like literally, they run forever. You cannot be, there’s nothing made in the United States that’s like a Honda when it comes to cars. Did you know that cars in the United States were built to break down after a certain amount of miles? I did not.
I could see that, though. Cars in the United States, like, it’s a known thing that after a car gets 100,000 miles in the U.S., it’s worn out. That’s wild.
Like, that’s like a thing, right? The car gets 100,000 miles. You’ve heard that before. It’s at 100,000, it’s worn out.
Well, in Japan, you buy a Honda and it’ll go for 700, 800,000 miles and it’s still running fine. It’s because the Japanese don’t build stuff that wears out. Yeah, it’s true.
Next on the list, this number includes Kia. What brand has Kia a part of it? Hyundai? Mm-hmm. Yeah, Hyundai.
Hyundai, mm-hmm. 7.3, so it went from 3.8 to 7.3. That’s double. You know, I’ll tell you.
119 billion. Kia has upped their game. Like, Kia, what do you think of when you think of a Kia? Usually very, like, family car, basic.
Okay, I would love to take you to a Kia dealership because Kia now has the same level of luxury as Mercedes. Really? If you’re sitting in a Kia and you cover the badges, you feel like you’re in an AMG. Wow, that’s surprising.
They have really upped their game. And Kia has a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Wow.
Which is insane. That’s wild, that’s a lot. Kia’s… They crush.
Yeah, and then, you know, I worked on a Hyundai Elantra the other day and, like, I was thinking, like, if I needed a car to just commute, just a cheap car to just commute, that’s exactly what I would buy is a Hyundai Elantra. There’s nothing flashy about them. You know, you can tint the windows, wrap the roof, put different wheels on it, and have a nice car to just put around town in, but they are… They feel nice.
They don’t feel crappy or cheap. I like Hyundais, I think Hyundai makes good cars. Yeah.
Number five, Stellantis, with $5.4 million cars sold. But, even though they’ve sold way less than Hyundai, they had $163 billion revenue. Do you know much about Stellantis? I think, look this up.
Hold, please. Yes. We own a Stellantis, we own two Stellantis’s.
What’s that? Mopar. Mopar? Stellantis owns Mopar. Which owns Jeep.
Which also owns Dodge. Why, I did not know that. So Stellantis is Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Ram, SRT.
Is that why dealerships always have like those all in part one? Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah, so like, it’s like how… Yeah, so Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Ram, SRT.
Uh-huh. All the exact same company. So cool.
Jeep is not its own company. Jeep is Dodge. Okay, cool, I did not know that.
Yeah. All right, last few in our last few minutes. Number four is General Motors with $6,172,000,000.
Number three is Ford Motor at 3.9. They sold less cars, but had a great profit of $173,000,000. Would you be happy with a profit of $173,000,000,000? That’s, that’s, that’s, that’s their… They’re doing pretty good. Tenth of the way to a trillion.
Which is wild, because the next one, three times the number of cars sold, and an extra $100,000,000,000 is Volkswagen. They had $277,000,000,000. Volkswagen’s like… They’ve got an interesting business model, because it’s like, they, they don’t sell cool stuff.
But people who buy Volkswagens are like, they, they become very loyal to the brand. My sister just bought one. She bought a Volkswagen, I don’t know what it is.
It’s like a little, it’s like a crossover looking thing. It kind of looks like a Timu Lamborghini Urus. And, or a Timu Range Rover.
And she loves it. And I think people that buy Volkswagens, and then I had that guy that I did that $1,700 paint correction on. A Volkswagen Jetta.
Like, I don’t know. People who buy Volkswagens are loyal to them. I don’t get it, but, you know, it’s whatevs, man, you know? Yeah.
And then number one is Toyota. I knew it. Mm-hmm, they have a pretty good profit.
What was their profit? $290,000,000,000,000. Dude, you’re like a quarter of the way, over a quarter of the way to a trillion. Isn’t that wild? That’s wild.
In a year. In one year. That makes some pretty good cars.
