I’m your host, Thomas Thill, the founder and owner of Bespoke Refinement, and today we’re going to be talking about the Ferrari rally we just went on. That’s right—recently, my wife Averee and I joined the Cavallino Corsa, which is the largest Ferrari rally in North America. We were tasked with detailing every car on the rally. These vehicles were driven hard—through mountain passes, down highways, and in some of the harshest weather conditions possible for exotic cars. Three out of the four days, the rally encountered rainstorms, and these weren’t light showers. At one point, the storm was so severe the Ferraris had to slow down to 20 miles per hour just to stay safe. Most of the cars were running Michelin Pilot Supersport Cup 2 tires. If you know anything about those tires, you know they’re essentially street-legal slicks. In the rain, they behave more like water skis—they float and hydroplane, making driving extremely challenging. After battling the rain, road grime, brake dust, and bugs, these cars were in desperate need of Kansas City car detailing.

We detailed 32 cars over four consecutive nights. Each night we started around 7 p.m. and often worked until 3 or 4 in the morning. Once we finished, we packed up our equipment, drove to the next location, slept for just a couple of hours, and then did it all again. It was exhausting but also one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. We often arrived at the next stop before the Ferraris did, which gave us just enough time to regroup, organize towels and supplies, and get ready for the next round of late-night detailing.

Some of the cars we worked on were absolutely unforgettable. A black C5 Z06 Corvette brought back a wave of nostalgia for me. I’ve owned a C5 Z06, and working on one again felt like stepping back onto the field where you played college ball—familiar and meaningful. A Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS was another standout. Shark Gray with a yellow interior, yellow calipers, and a half cage—it was one of my dream cars, and getting to detail it was a bucket-list moment. The Ferrari we drove away from our wedding in was also on the rally, which was really cool. The first time I ever drove that car was at the Cavallino Corsa rally the year before. Detailing it again together—just six months after our wedding—was surreal. It reminded us why we love what we do and why Kansas City car detailing means so much more than just washing cars. For us, it’s about creating moments, memories, and connections.

Another highlight was my client Doug’s Ferrari 355 Berlinetta. The 355 is rare, but a Berlinetta coupe with a gated six-speed manual is extremely rare. Doug also has a 575 Maranello—also gated and yellow. Two incredible cars, both on CCW wheels, which is about as high-level as it gets for car collectors. One of the wildest cars on the rally was a Ferrari 488 Pista done by Ferrari Tailor Made. If you don’t know, Tailor Made is Ferrari’s concierge program—you need special status to access it. You can spec anything you want, any colors, any customizations. This car had nearly $450,000 in options, including full blue carbon fiber throughout the body and interior. The rear diffuser, side skirts, interior trim—everything was finished in blue carbon. It was easily one of the most striking builds I’ve ever seen.

There were some surprises along the way too. Two brothers showed up in incredible Porsches: one in a Spyder RS (a Boxster with a GT3 RS engine) and the other in a GT4 RS. Both cars were loud, fast, and unlike anything else on the rally. And then there was the Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Its owner handed me the keys and said, “Have fun.” So I did. I took it down the mountain, opened it up on the highway, and then ripped it back up the climb. With a straight-piped Jintani exhaust from headers back, the sound was nothing short of addictive. That drive alone made the late nights worth it.

As exhausting as it was, the rally also brought growth. Averee and I learned how to work better as a team under pressure. We had to refine our process—figuring out how to move quickly without sacrificing the quality of our work. We balanced logistics, managed supplies, and adapted to surprises like unexpected rain or late arrivals. More importantly, we made connections. Many of the Ferrari owners we met will now become long-term clients for our Kansas City car detailing services. That’s the beauty of doing what we do—it’s not just about cleaning cars, it’s about relationships.

Events like this rally prove why professional detailing is essential for high-performance and luxury vehicles. Regular washes can’t handle road grime, bug splatter, or brake dust from a 200 mph car. These cars require specialized care. Whether it’s ceramic coating, paint correction, or advanced protection methods, you need someone who understands the unique needs of exotic vehicles. That’s what we provide at Bespoke Refinement. We’re not just another detailing company. We’re Kansas City’s trusted team for high-end vehicles, rally cars, exotics, and daily drivers that deserve the best.
