Well, guys, today we’re talking about the Cavallino Corsa Rally that we just finished last week. Right now, we’re diving into day two of the rally. On the second day, we arrived at Queen Wilhelmina around three o’clock in the afternoon. We immediately unloaded our gear and started prepping to detail the cars. The problem was, as we were unloading, we realized we didn’t have enough hose to reach all the vehicles. I staged everything, started washing a few cars, and Averee hopped in the Jeep—our Bespoke Refinement mascot vehicle—and drove 30 minutes into Mena, Arkansas, to pick up more supplies at Walmart.
That town was a little on the sketchy side—bars on the windows, kind of rough around the edges. But Averee went in by herself and grabbed exactly what we needed: hoses and extension cords. She came back with just enough—right on the dot. Perfect amount.
Here’s the funny part. Queen Wilhelmina only had one water spigot, and it was on the back side of the hotel. All the cars, of course, were parked in front. Running a hose all the way around the building wasn’t going to work. So I improvised. I found the hotel laundry room, propped the door open, and unhooked one of the washers. I connected our hose directly to the washing machine spigot, and that’s how we washed the cars all night. It worked perfectly.
That night, everything flowed better. Every car was shining by the next morning. The first night of the rally, we had started around 2 p.m. and didn’t finish until 3 a.m. But in Mena, we started at 7 p.m. and were done by 3 a.m.—we cut our time in half. Washing 34 cars back-to-back teaches you a lot about efficiency and rhythm, and by the second night, we had our groove.
The system I discovered was washing multiple cars at once. I’d spray them with bug remover, clean the wheels and tires, and then foam cannon four cars at a time. After scrubbing them down, I’d rinse them off together, which saved a ton of time. While I did that, Averee would come through with the Ego Leaf Blower to blow out cracks and crevices—mirrors, door handles, emblems, diffusers—then hand dry everything. She was using a method I only learned last year: spraying detail spray while drying the car, using it as a drying aid rather than just a quick detailer. It adds lubrication, prevents scratching, and leaves a better finish.
