Hello, Kansas City. Welcome back to the Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast. I am your host, Thomas Thill.
I am the founder and owner and operator of Bespoke Automotive Refinement. We are Kansas City’s number one Kansas City car detailing service. We offer everything from paint correction to Kansas City ceramic coating to Kansas City car detailing.
We offer any type of Kansas City car detailing package you can imagine. Guys, I am on my way home today from starting about a four-day project on a 2025 Ferrari 296 GTB. Now, you don’t know what that car is.
It’s basically the, I would almost call it like a baby SF90 Ferrari. So instead of having the twin-turbo V8, this has the twin-turbo V6, but it’s a hybrid just like the SF90. You know, it’s a $900,000 car.
And this client of mine is in his third Ferrari. So he’s got a 308 GTS. He’s got a 488 Spider.
And then this 296 GTB, also a Spider. And today was the first day seeing the car in person. All of his Ferraris are finished in beautiful blue.
So his 308 GTS is finished in a sky blue. The 488 is finished in Caraco blue, as well as the 296 GTB being finished in a Caraco blue. Now, the 488 has already received extensive Kansas City car detailing services.
We’ve done a Kansas City paint correction on the car, as well as a Kansas City ceramic coating on the car. The 308 Ferrari that he has, I actually could not perform any sort of Kansas City car detailing service on it when he purchased the car because it was so heavily damaged. The paint was cracking and chipping away.
The interior was literally breaking apart in your hands. If you tried moving the leather seats or grabbing the leather steering wheel, it just all crumpled beneath your hands. That’s because it was a very delicate car that had been used a lot.
So he ended up having that one completely restored, the interior redone, the exterior completely repainted and refinished. And the car just looks absolutely beautiful now. But the car in question that we’re going to be talking about today is this 296 GTB Spider.
Now, he lives on a dirt road and he is not planning on driving this car extensively. So the car has like, I think it either said 17 miles or 70 miles, not very many miles. And I got my paint correction light on it and started washing it.
And right off the bat, I noticed a few things with the car. One of the things I noticed, first of all, was on the roof. So the roof has piano black finish.
It’s really very fine. It scratches very easily. And in general, this whole car scratches very easily.
But particularly, this piano black finish on the roof, the A-pillar, B-pillar, and C-pillars were all heavily scratched. There was a spot just above the driver’s side. It would basically be sitting right on top of the driver’s head.
It’s a little spot where it looks like the paint is already beginning to peel off. The rear quarter, front side rear quarter fender, the reflector light is already chipped off, already scratched up and scuffed really badly. The panels on the interior of the car, visibly from the exterior, so if you’re standing on the outside of it, you can actually see where the leather on the interior of this car is beginning to pull up.
It’s absolutely insane. And I do see this a lot with Ferraris that we perform Kansas City Car Detailing services on. These cars will have quite a lot of little fit and finish defects.
But this car in particular, it just had so many defects on the exterior and in the interior. I noticed that the rear bumper was beginning to pull away from the bumper, like the exhaust tip. So when I was cleaning it, just barely touching the back bumper, I could fit two fingers between the back bumper and the exhaust tips because it was just so loose.
That’s why I’m a Lamborghini guy, because Lamborghinis, they just, they don’t really have those types of issues. They don’t have these extensive, common fit and finish issues. But so with this Ferrari, what we ended up doing with it is, we started by spot sanding all of the defects that were factory.
There were some corners on the vehicle that just had very dull paint. Sanding had not been, the sanding marks had not been completely finished out. So we began by sanding those down and then refinishing those out.
We ended up completely refinishing the hood and then part of the back bumper, I ended up wet sanding and completely refinishing it out. Very orange peely, very textury. It’s again, very common on a modern Ferrari.
You know, the thing about Ferrari is they hand paint, they hand finish all of their cars. It’s just the name of the game with Ferrari. So it’s very common to see human fit and finish issues.
But, you know, purchasing a Kansas City car detailing package from us ensures that we are going to extensively look through every little fine detail of your car to make sure that if there are any fit and finish issues, or if there are areas of the paint that haven’t been sanded down and refinished to look perfect, we take care of that for you. And that’s the beauty of hiring Bespoke Refinement. And that is why we are Kansas City’s number one car detailing service.
