Hello Kansas City and welcome back to the Bespoke Automotive Refinement Podcast. We are your one-stop shop for all things detailing, car detailing, paint correction, ceramic coating. We are Kansas, we are the number one Kansas City car detailing service.

So guys, we’re going to be continuing our topic on the new Z06 that we got. This is going to be the Bespoke Automotive Refinement showpiece or car or whatever you want to call it, right? It’s going to be the shop car. It’s going to be the company car.

So we obviously went through, you know, nuances of the car. We talked about how we got it. Now we’re going to talk about what are the plans with it? Why did we buy this one over a C8 or a C7? Why did we buy a 20-year-old car? And then what are the plans with it? So I’ll clear it up real quick why we ended up going with a 20-year-old Z06 over the C7, five-year-old Z06 or the C8 where you can get a brand new one.

Why do we go the 20-year-old car? The big reason is what I look for in a supercar. I’m not someone that likes to have all of the technology and the computers that prevent you from driving the car. Obviously, in a car that you drive every day, if you’re buying something to commute 30 minutes, to and from work and take on road trips, yes, having the technology, having the heated seats, the computers, all that, 100%.

But if we’re talking about a car that you’re just going to be driving as a secondary or a third car that you’re just going to use it to beat on it, you’re going to use it to drive it. It’s going to be the car that you break the law and it’s going to be the car that you speed in. I prefer something that requires more skill to drive than the C8 Z06 or the C7 Z06 that you just mash the throttle and the computer does all the work for you.

That’s why we want the C6 Z06. Now, why didn’t we go with the ZR1? This car has more sentimental value to me than a ZR1 ever could. If no money, no object, someday the Kansas City car detailing business does really well, I would love to park a Sebring Orange C6 ZR1 next to this car.

I think that that would be so cool to have both. But this car was a dream car of mine for quite a while. Buying it back and then having it built the way it was built was a dream of mine.

So, now that we’ve gone over that, what are our plans with this car? Where are we going with it? What modifications are we going to do to it? I’m walking around the car right now as I’m recording this, so there’s going to be some things that I notice and some things that I’m going to point out. First things first that I need to do to this car, the mirrors were like rock chip magnets. It is so beat up.

Both of the mirrors are destroyed. I’m going to do some rock chip touch-up on the mirrors. The bumper kind of needs the same thing.

The bumper’s not quite as bad, but it is going to need some rock chip repair. The rear bumper, the car was ceramic coated and coating’s still working really well. But the rear bumper, I just think it’s from all of the carbon monoxide that shoots up out of the exhaust.

I think it’s ate away at the coating on the back end of it. So, I’m going to polish the back end, recoat it. So, that’s like the maintenance stuff.

Now for the fun stuff. I don’t plan on doing much power-wise to this car because it really doesn’t need much more. I think we could get it to 630 wheel with an intake manifold like an MSD Air Force or a Fast 102.

I was even thinking like a Holley low-profile, like a Holley Hi-Ram low-profile intake manifold with the ported throttle body. So, those are really the only two things performance-wise that I want to do to the car. Exhaust-wise, it’s got Kooks long tube headers, Kooks X-pipe.

It’s basically all Kooks exhaust to the axle-back. At some point, I really do want to change the axle-back to more of a louder, like a Corsa Extreme. I priced one out the other day.

It was like three grand, which is absolutely crazy. And then, as far as aesthetics go on this thing, we want to do… It’s got a carbon fiber spoiler on it now, but it actually came off of a Spank Bank, the 1320 Video ZR1. When Kyle went with the painted one, I bought this one from him, and it was pretty bad.

So, I ended up wrapping it black, and then the roof’s wrapped black. So, I think what we’re going to end up doing is getting the higher profile carbon fiber spoiler, and then wrapping the roof in carbon fiber as well, doing like a gloss carbon to match the carbon fiber side skirts, the carbon fiber door handles, and finally, the car needs a carbon fiber front splitter, which I’m actually glad it doesn’t have on it right now. The street that we live on is under a ton of construction right now, and so our paved road, it’s a one-way, we live right on the end of it, has basically turned into a mud pit.

So, when it dries, it’s like living on a dirt road right now, which sucks. So, I’ll probably wait to do the carbon fiber splitter until after they’re done with all that construction. That way, I don’t have to worry about just absolutely destroying, you know, a carbon fiber splitter right after getting it on.

And then, I’m just trying to think what else. I am thinking about doing different seats. Right now, it’s just got the factory C6 Z06 seats in it, and they aren’t bad, but driving a GT3 RS has really turned me into a spoiled brat with these analog track cars, and that’s one thing that this car is really missing, is the seats and then a suede steering wheel.

Those couple of things will really change the way that this car feels, and so just over, you know, the course of time, the course of the next year or so, those are just some things that I want to do to it, but the big thing, the first thing that I’ll do to it, outside of, you know, rock chip touch-up and all that, I will be doing the carbon fiber splitter and the carbon fiber spoiler pretty soon, just because it, like I said, it needs it. It needs it bad. It just doesn’t, it looks, it looks uneven right now to me.
