Hello Kansas City, welcome back to the Bespoke Refinement Podcast. We are so excited to have you on today, talking all things cars and detailing, and Kansas City car detailing. But most importantly today, we’re going to be talking about Kansas City ceramic coating.

That’s right, ceramic coating. What is a ceramic coating? There seems to be so much misinformation in the webs, in the spear of the interwebs, talking about what people think ceramic coating is, what ceramic coating isn’t, what it could be, what it may be, but what it actually is. Now, let’s get one thing clear.

If you came on this podcast today to learn whether or not there is such thing as ceramic tire shine, ceramic glass cleaner, ceramic detail spray, I can confirm this to you right now, none of those things exist. Car detailing manufacturers started putting the word ceramic in their product as a marketing tool to get people’s attention, but it was never really something that I would say a marketing tactic that frankly made a lot of car detailers mad. Why? Well, ceramic coating is not a, it doesn’t really make a lot of sense to put ceramic in front of everything that you do.

Okay, so perfect instance. Window tinners started installing a type of window tint called ceramic window tint. What does it actually have ceramic in it? It’s a very useful product, but whenever they refer to it as ceramic window tint, it’s like well, what’s hydrophobic about the glass? Nothing.

It just makes your interior of your car really cool, and it’s a very, very, very helpful product, but it is not a ceramic product. So what is a real ceramic coating? Well, ceramic coating in the automotive world is a, in the auto detailing world I should say, is a hydrophobic layer of coating that you put over the top of the vehicle’s paint, and you can put it on trim, and it works. I wouldn’t say it works as well as the paint, but you put it on the exterior of your vehicle and even the interior, and when you spray the vehicle down with water, when you get the vehicle wet, nothing sticks to it.

So it beads water very well, it makes the car extremely easy to keep clean, and Bespoke Refinement is actually a NanoPro installer. So we do Kansas City ceramic coatings, and we do 10-year ceramic coatings. That’s right, we have a coating that will last for 10 years.

It is an extremely hard coating, it’s a 10H hardness coating, and it will last for a very long time, and what’s included in that long-lasting coating is a, the ability to repel all bug gut etchings, so if you take the car on a long road trip and it sits outside for a while and the heat, when you come home to wash it, if the bug guts just stick to it and don’t come off, well our Kansas City ceramic coating packages will make sure that the bug gut etchings come right off and they don’t stain your paint. If you’ve ever had a bird poop on your car, and then the car sits out in the sun all day, and your car has a stain on the paint when you clean the bird poop off after sitting in the sun all day, our Kansas City ceramic coating packages will also prevent these things from happening. If you have a Kansas City ceramic coating on your vehicle, it will prevent all kinds of paint defects, etchings, stains, and chemical rains from harming your vehicle’s finish.

Now something that I saw recently that really piqued my interest, got me thinking about Kansas City ceramic coating packages, were the classic cars that have single stage enamel paint jobs. It got me wondering, can you ceramic coat these paint jobs? Absolutely you can. With a single stage paint job, or an enamel paint job, you don’t want to ceramic coat it with a super hydrophobic and a super hard ceramic coating, because those paint jobs need to breathe.

Those paint jobs need to be able to expand and contract as they heat up and cool down. So putting a nano-pro-borphine coating on a hard, that gets very hard, could cause issues in the ceramic coating. My recommendation is to do a light coating that is extremely hydrophobic on a single stage paint job vehicle.

That way we can ensure that the paint job is safe underneath the coating, we can make sure that the vehicle has the proper amount of hydrophobic properties, and that the paint job is going to continue to be protected and very slick and very smooth for years to come.
