Hello, Kansas city. Welcome back to the bespoke automotive refinement podcast, the number one Kansas City Car Detailing podcast. It has been a bit since we’ve done a podcast since Thomas and I just recently got married and we’re getting back into it.

So tonight we’re going to be talking about all kinds of things about cars, but if you ever want us to talk about anything specific, or if you want to get Thomas’s thoughts, feel free to reach out to us on social media, either on Instagram or Facebook, or you can also email us at info at bespoke refinement.com. We love talking to you. You can also go on to bespoke refinement.com and check out some cool photos of video. Uh, of course that’s probably where they’re watching this from right now.

Uh, but if you ever want to talk about cars or get your car booked for a Kansas city car detailing package, give me a call at (620) 282 – 0402. We absolutely love talking about cars. Feel free to reach out anytime. We just love what we get to do.

All right. Today’s topic is something we haven’t talked about really in a long time and not since the beginning, but just kind of a revamp on paint correction. Now, for any of you that have done any work bespoke refinement.com or bespoke.

Just bespoke. Um, we specialize in car detailing, but also specifically paint correction. Now, Thomas is probably one of the top paint correction specialists in the entire United States.

We’ve heard that from ready people. His work has won awards. It’s truly the best of the business.

Um, Thomas, can you explain a little bit about what paint correction is through the lens of somebody who knows nothing about cars and then maybe even go to a little detail of like, why would somebody need it done? Yeah. So paint correction is something that number one’s a very broad term. So my definition of paint correction is making the paint look better than showroom new.

So, you know, you hear people say, Oh, the car looks like a showroom, new showroom quality. Um, showroom quality in my eyes is not really that great. Um, you’ve got orange peel.

You’ve got miss sanding marks from the, uh, finishing work that maybe the dealership did or, um, the, uh, manufacturer did. And so there’s so many imperfections in paint from the factory that can be fixed, it just takes four to five days. So our paint correction services actually cut into the clear coat of the vehicle, thin it down in a very safe way.

We don’t thin it down in an unsafe way. So rather than using heat, we use a lot of grit and so that grit doesn’t burn the clear coat, rather it smooths it out. Um, so as far as anyone that needs a paint correction, I tell people every vehicle on the road needs a paint correction that has not been painted before.

Well, you and I on our honeymoon, we’re in Puerto Rico. We stopped in at a Lamborghini and Ferrari dealership, looked at both, even the showroom Ferrari that we were looking at, you’re like, it needs paint correction. And I am an inexperienced novice at all of this.

I’m learning through a relationship and I can definitely tell. So even a showroom quality Ferrari needed a paint correction. Yeah.

And it’s, it’s insane to think about cars, the higher end stuff that’s hand painted, um, needing work like that. But it’s actually the fact that the cars are hand finished, that they have those imperfections. You know, it’s like a Louis Vuitton purse or a Gucci purse.

They almost always have stitching that’s out of alignment, or you can see the imperfections because they’re handmade. And that’s what Ferrari and Lamborghini and Porsche and all these higher end brands do. So it’s just, we just re-stitch it.

Make it look all nice and shiny. That’s it. That’s the move.

Now, what are some common Kansas City car detailing supercars and hypercars that you’ve worked on recently? So the one that I’m working on right now is a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Sceglietti. I just call it a Ferrari 612. Um, it was previously owned by a baseball player who’s actually just inducted into the hall of fame.

Uh, he’s the original owner of it. Um, so that car is getting a full paint correction, ceramic coating to get it ready for sale. And then the car that I’m starting on next is a Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, which is insane.

Um, You’re like a kid in a candy store when you found that out. I am, you know, it was actually kind of funny today. I was eating my lunch on the garage floor.

And, um, the owner’s daughter who I’m kind of dealing with, she came in and she’s like, you can go upstairs and eat inside. And I’m like, oh, this is such a cathartic experience for me. Like a little kid, I would be freaking out if he knew that he was sitting on the floor eating lunch surrounded by all these cars.

For any of you that don’t know this, Thomas is a huge car guy. Even as a little kid, he had a little book that he’d flip through and he studied all these cars. So being around cars truly is living his best dream.

It really is. And, you know, I’m, I’m very blessed that I get to work on these cars. I get to enjoy these cars with the customers.

And so it’s, um, it’s really pretty exciting. When somebody is wanting to get a Kansas City car detailing paint correction, what are the steps to even do that? What cars can you work on? And then what kind of setup would they need in their homes for you to do that? It’s a really great question. So, um, as far as getting set up to get in the queue for a paint correction, just give me a call at 620-282-0402.

And, um, we can discuss different options. Um, as far as what vehicles we do, I mean, we, we do, we do everything. I’ve done planes.

I’ve done boats. Um, I ceramic coated or I paint corrected and ceramic coated a quick trip cup lid. One time, like, Oh yeah.

You did motorcycles, do motorcycles. You can literally, yep. I didn’t lawnmower.

You can literally do anything that has paint and a clear coat on it. Um, so we work on everything and, um, and then these steps to paint correction. Um, so we go through a, either a one step, a two step or a three step paint correction, and the one step is a pretty basic cut and polish.

And then the two stage paint correction is, you know, heavy compound, another cut, and then a polish. So I guess it’s kind of interesting. The one stage is actually, there’s two stages to it.

The two stages, actually three stages to it. So, um, and then finally we have the three step paint correction, which is sanding, heavy compounding, cutting and polishing, and then finishing polish. So what does somebody need in order for you to do a paint correction on a vehicle? You know, I’m very, very, very, um, flexible with what I do, where I do it.

So as long as you have a covered garage that you can open and close the door and I have enough room on both sides of the car to open the doors up all the way. I can do a paint correction on that. Can you move it anywhere? Do they need water hookups, electrical? They will need water hookups.

They will need electricity. Um, but honestly, anyone that has a garage space has electricity. And if somebody does not have those things, is there some place that they can take their car for you to work on it? Absolutely.

So we even, um, here at our house in Lee Summit, if someone doesn’t have a garage, but they really want their car paint corrected, we’ll have them bring it to our home base here and I will work on it from home. So if somebody’s wanting to get into the queue for any corrections, Kansas City car detailing service, or any Kansas City car detailing package, how do they go about doing that? The best way to do that is to get a hold of me at 620-282-0402. Uh, you can also email us at info at bespoke refinement.com. Um, you can also check out our website, www.bespokerefinement.com.
